In the area of public roads, this year the Republic Inspection Service conducted over 200 inspections which covered protection, maintenance, construction and reconstruction of public roads. Inspectors issued over 50 administrative measures, ordering irregularities to be removed, and 25 minor offence orders, said Aleksandar Đukić, Chief Republic Traffic Inspector in an interview for BL PORTAL.
He stressed that a special emphasis in activities of the Republic Traffic Inspection Service is aimed at inspecting road worthiness testing stations, and that the inspection services made significant efforts in combating fictitious road worthiness tests in the past couple of years. According to him, in the past few years, inspectors in such cases issued the most repressive measures which involved banning testing stations from working even up to 90 days, as well as fines.
When it comes to public transport of people, Đukić explained that, within their regular inspections of road transport companies, inspectors can request an extraordinary road worthiness test if they have knowledge or suspect that a vehicle is not road worthy. There were cases in practice when during an extraordinary road worthiness test of buses certain irregularities were found, so the traffic inspector ordered the vehicle to be removed from traffic and confiscated the Registration Certificate, as well as registration plates. This measure remains in force until the found irregularities are removed.
