Competent inspection services have lately conducted 101 inspections of night clubs in the whole of the Republic of Srpska, aimed at check conditions of measures of fire safety, occupational health and safety, and general use of facilities.

In 78 cases inspectors found various types of non-compliance of prescribed norms, but it is important to emphasize that there were no cases in which deficiencies or risks were found that could directly lead to the outbreak or spread of fire, or improper disposal or storage of flammable materials.

The irregularities mostly were related to the irregular periodic testing of various installations (such as lighting rod installations and hydrant network), the absence of normative document on fire safety regulations, training of all workers regarding fire safety, and the failure to appoint a person responsible for implementing fire safety measures, training of workers in safe work, adoption of Risk Assessment Documents for all job positions, etc.

In all cases inspectors ordered corrective measures to be taken in order to remove irregularities. So far there were no cases of extreme irregularities that would require very repressive measures to be taken.

During inspections the responsible persons were informed of their obligation to keep evacuation exits leading to open spaces passable, that they are not allowed to dispose equipment, packaging or other items in those areas, so that safe evacuation from the premises could be conducted at any given time.

Also, the businesses were informed on their obligation to monitor the number of persons that can be present in the premises, and that it is their responsibility to make sure that number does not exceed the number of persons allowed in accordance with the area and capacities of the premises.

The inspections were conducted in cooperation with the Republic of Srpska Ministry of Interior, and when needed involved inspectors from local self-governance units in coordination with republic inspectors.

We remind you that the purpose of these controls is to prevent and timely eliminate any irregularities that could lead to unwanted incidents, which are also the principles of regular inspection supervision which is conducted throughout the year.
