A media campaign titled “Stop Intellectual Property Theft!”, is an introduction into the new promotional and preventive aspect of inspection activities in Republika Srpska. The campaign is led by the Republika Srpska Inspectorate in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Republika Srpska Government, with the support of the USAID “Intellectual Property Rights” Project.
The aim of the media campaign is to inform the citizens on the importance of protecting intellectual property rights, what are the benefits of legal work, but also what are the sanctions for businesses that break the law on purpose.
The new set of regulations in the area of intellectual property rights gives the authority over surveillance, in the part dealing with the marketing of goods and services, to the Market Inspection service. The campaign foremost has preventive and education character and it is aimed to raising awareness of the public on the importance of protection intellectual property rights and informing business on new regulations and activities of inspectors.
