The Republic Traffic Inspection Service conducts inspection surveillance concerning compliance of the regulations referring to public roads and road traffic, stations for vehicle technical inspection, railroads and railroad traffic, water traffic, postal traffic, telecommunication services, international and inter-entity transport of people and goods using roads, electronic signature and electronic document and other administrative areas is so regulated.

In accordance with regulated competences, the Republic Traffic Inspection Service controls:

• road transportation of people and goods in Bosnia and Herzegovina,
• international road transportation of people and goods,
• the work of stations for road worthiness tests,
• building, maintaining and protection of public roads,
• postal traffic,
• the safety of sailing and sailing crafts,
• railroad transportation, rail maintenance, rail facilities, facilities and vehicles and
• other requirements prescribed by the law.
