Within a European Bank for Reconstruction and Development project, financed by the Swiss Economic Affairs Secretariat (SECO), an event was organised at the offices of the Republic of Srpska Inspectorate with the presentation of the risk assessment algorithm used for selection of supervised businesses.
This algorithm uses data from the database of the Inspection Management System (IMS), which is a large digital archive with all important information on inspected business and organisations. The algorithm studies that data and uses special calculations to determine which business are of a higher, and which are of a smaller risk. In the end, the Chief Inspectors get a list of businesses that require the most attention, i.e. with the highest probability of committing violations. Owing to this system, the inspectors can focus on the riskier cases, without burdening businesses that respect the regulations.
The algorithm was developed by Aleksandar Ivić, a software engineer from Belgrade, hired by the National Alliance for Local Economic Development (NALED). The presentation was attended by Milovan Krčo, Director of the Republic of Srpska Inspectorate, Igor Milunović, Deputy Director of the Republic of Srpska Inspectorate, as well as all Chief Inspectors and heads of departments.
