
In order to establish common operation rules for inspection and customs authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, for the purpose of faster flow of goods, decreasing delays and providing synchronised operation at all customs terminals, competent inspection authorities of the Republic of Srpska, Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brčko District, Veterinary Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Logistics Consortium of B&H, have signed a Cooperation and Obligatory Measures Agreement.
On the occasion, Director of Republic of Srpska Inspectorate Milovan Krčo stated that the Republic of Srpska inspection authorities are determined to, within their competences, provide full support to business in the transport sector, and that through dialogue with theme they were finding the best mode of work and organisation of inspection surveillance, with consistent respect of legal provisions.
He stressed that in order to conduct inspection surveillance in foreign trade during import, republic inspectors are located at 14 border crossings and customs offices in the Republic of Srpska, which provides for easier flow of goods. At average, annually inspectors conduct around 125,000 examinations of shipments subject to mandatory inspection surveillance.
Director Krčo also stressed that the Inspectorate daily takes numerous organizational and logistic measures in order to speed up control procedures and decrease waiting time at border crossings necessary, within this authority’s competences.
Dragan Mataruga, Chief Republic Agricultural Inspector emphasized that the most significant step in the signed Agreement is the synchronisation of working hours of inspection and customs authorities. This will significantly decrease time that carriers spend waiting for all the procedures to be completed at border crossings, which also include inspections of shipments. As soon as 1 October, the working hours for inspectors at the border crossings with the highest frequency of traffic will be from 8.00 to 20.00, Monday to Saturday.
Chief Coordinator of Logistics Consortium of B&H Velibor Peulić stated that with the synchronised working hours, Bosnia and Herzegovina is now one of the European countries. He stressed that in practice this will speed up the flow of goods as much as for 24 hours, which means that the businesses can make better production plans. Peulić added that the Consortium is very pleased with Inspectorate’s efforts, who were the first to meet the demands, and that this was in the best interest of all citizens and consumers.
